Meet Your TEam
Janel Nail, B.Ed. is an art educator and creative cat in Calgary Alberta. She spent 15 years as an elementary teacher and now teaches art throughout Calgary and spends most of her days running her interior design firm, Janel Nail Interiors.
Janel was born and raised in rural Alberta. She has enjoyed making and creating from a very young age. Growing up her favourite things to draw were her quarter horses, Sass and Smokey.
“I love art and design and I am here for it all! The journey in art-making is the most fun; the imaginative brainstorming, the research, the mock ups, the problem solving and finally the hands-on mess! Without art, life would be so very meh.”
Andrea Lau, graduated from OCAD with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Toronto with a focus on printmaking. Growing up she spent quiet summers exploring nature in the St. Lawrence Forest. Finding wonder in her nature continues to shape her artistic perspective, grounding her work in the natural environment.
She has lived in Calgary for over 20 years and currently teaches as an arts educator in schools across Calgary. You might have seen some of her work throughout the city including her most recent mural at 1208 Renfrew Dr. Ne at Little Roots Learning Centre.
“I love art that is process based because I get to work with simple machines. I love making art that celebrates the wonder of nature. Making art offers me a new perspective in the world and my place in it.”

ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO DO BEFORE CAMP?
Yes, parents/guardians please discuss the following before student(s) arrive to camp.
To prepare, it is important to remind kids to try their best, have fun and enjoy the process. We will speak a lot about how every person is unique and therefore our art will all look different from one another. Our intention is for our art to look DIFFERENT from one another, allowing our own unique expression shine through. We will emphasize that there is no such thing as ‘perfect’ in art-making and having fun in creating our art is the most important part!
* Our goal is to maintain a respectful, patient, and creative learning environment. Please note disrespectful and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. In the event of inappropriate behaviour, parents will be called to pick up their child immediately. No refunds or credits for missed time in the event a parent needs to be called if a child is not able continue with the class either partially or permanently due to bullying, disruptive, violent, inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour. Thank you for helping us have a happy and inclusive camp for all.
WHAT IF MY CHILD WILL BE LATE FOR CAMP?
If you know you’ll be late or absent please advise Janel by text at 403-466-1525. Thank you!
